Comment: We had heard about Cole's daycare through a family member. We decided to try it out and at first, we had no complaints. My main concern with Cole's daycare however, was the day my 20 month old son vomited on an area rug she had in her living room. This rug was a children's rug that displayed the ABC's. She called to inform me that I needed to pick him up. No problem, we were there within 15 minutes to get him. Mind you, this happened at 8:30 a.m. She informed us he needed to be symptom free for 24 hours. The whole day and night he did not vomit again. That day she kept texting me saying she could not get the stain and/or smell out of the rug. I was apologetic and mentioned some ideas that have worked for me in the past. I texted her the next morning informing her that my child had been symptom free and asked if it would be alright to bring him back at a later time that day. Her response was as long as he was symptom free for 24 hours, which was the cause. I dropped him off and I asked her if she had tried the baking soda trick (worked on my expensive suede couch) and she said "I tried everything, I just threw it away." Then, fifteen minutes after I leave her house, I receive a text message from her stating exactly this word for word, "In my contract, I have parent is responsible for damages from there child. I've tried 3 different things trying to save rug. last option is to hire a professional to clean rug roughly $100. New rug is $118.99. If professional doesn't work than its cost of cleaning plus new rug." With this text message I received a screen shot of the rug she had that needed replaced. Now, keep in mind, this contract that I signed, I was not given a copy of, after giving them to her once he started. I asked why I was not informed of this when I was just there. She replied that she would rather communicate through text message. So at this point, I had no way of looking at the contract to see what exactly it said I told her I would order a new one. However, right after that I had a chance to talk to my fiancee and he wanted a chance to wash and clean it ourselves before buying a new one. So he picked our son up that evening. When he arrived he asked if we could clean it. She told him yes, but that it was in the garage with baking soda on it. Which she had told me earlier that day during drop off that she had thrown the rug away. We assumed she would give it to one of us, either at drop off or pick up. Week goes by nothing was said, I received a text message asking if I had heard where the rug is because it has not been delivered. At this point, things began to fall apart. Long story short, she terminated care, texted and said "Don't worry about copies (we asked for copy of the contract) I ordered new rug and count my losses but today will be the last day i provide care." After pick up she texted and said, " I think it's best to end care today. I don't want any drama here with daycare. I will not hold u guys to the 2 weeks tuition but do want you guys to pay for replacement rug." After meeting up to collect our son's belongings she handed the contract with a start next to where it states "parents are responsible for accidental damages." Okay, now, this is exactly what her contract states that we signed to agree on. DAYS OF OPERATION: I UNDERSTAND THAT ACCIDENTS HAPPEN, BUT IF YOUR CHILD PURPOSELY DAMAGES ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM, YOU, AS THEIR PARENT OR GUARDIAN, ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE ITEM OR PAYING FOR THE ITEM TO BE REPLACED. She was questioned about it and still told us that we were responsible for it. Our 20 month old had an upset stomach and vomited on this rug. It was not intentional. Then she proceeded to tell us that we now owe for the 2 weeks tuition, the rug, and $300 in late fees for the 2 times we picked him up after 4pm (our normal time) which she was informed of the day of, in text message, which is the way she prefers communication. Currently, she is threatening to take us to court. I would not recommend this daycare for children. I do not feel my child was unsafe here at any time, but I also, do not think parents deserve to be accused and treated this way either. I also feel like more hands on interaction could have been provided also.
