Additional Information:

I am the 2019 Washington County Family Outstanding Childcare Provider of the Year.  I have a BA in Psychology and Elementary Education. Since I know how important the first 5 years of life are in development and learning, I try to expose the kids in a natural and fun way to as much learning as possible while providing a loving and safe home environment. This is your child's home away from home. We not only focus on developing little minds but also developing as a whole person, including working on social and emotional skills as well. I teach the children how to problem solve and have a "can do" attitude. Learning activities are planned but also child initiated. Your child will be learning about many things here such as easy Spanish words, colors, numbers, alphabet, science, dinosaurs, space, safety, nursery rhymes, and reading. I use a variety of experiences to teach the little ones. We sing lots of songs and listen to lots of music. We make projects for holidays and celebrations and for every day. We practice baby sign language. We read lots of stories and take trips to the local library. We sometimes have a baking project to do. I find out what the kids are interested in and build on those things too. We practice phonics and letter recognition. Depending on their ages, some children will work on cutting skills, handwriting skills, small muscle and large muscle skills, and other pre-kindergarten skills. Babies get lots of attention and time to explore the environment.

A typical day includes breakfast, free play, circle time, crafts or a baking project, outdoor time, walks to the park or nearby library, lunch and rest time. This is followed by snack time and free play at the end of the day. We aim to get outside every day, even in the winter.First Initial License Date: 7/9/1991.
