Philosophy of Learning

At The Learning Child, Home Care, I will provide a safe, warm, happy and supportive atmosphere where children of the community can develop to their fullest potential.  Recognizing the cultural diversity and individuality of each child, parent and family situation, I understand differences and make a sincere effort to relate to parents and their children according to their physical, intellectual and social needs.

The whole child is stimulated by the introduction of materials and activities which are both child centered and provider directed.  Activities are implemented with the emphasis on the process rather than the product, fostering a sense of accomplishment and pride.

Based on the theory that children learn through play, daily routines encourage active involvement, meaningful experimentation, and reinforcement through repetition.  The schedule of the day is designed to balance structure and free choice, as well as active and quiet times.

Each child develops at his/her own pace.  They learn naturally and never have to be pushed, prodded or pressured.  I need only to provide encouragement and creative stimulation to fit their interests.
