I am absolutely heartbroken over this, we were in the Nurtury Program for over 2 years, starting in Larchmont then the 1144 North Ave location and finally the 130 Flandreau. I truly bought into the messaging of peace and love and while concerns were raised, we were too busy, we worked too much but then there came a breaking point where we couldn’t and WOULD NOT be quiet any longer. When teacher after teacher is leaving complaining of toxic treatment from the administration and owners, of being bullied into working more hours, of having no benefits – no health insurance and no paid days off during the Covid pandemic and more sordid stories. Our child loved her teachers and we went along despite the fact that they were not Montessori certified and had only 2 teachers in the classroom working 11 hour days. With 14 toddlers at different ages, there is a concern of the level of attention they might receive, and long hours bring on fatigue, especially with active toddlers, and is NOT the level of care we expected to have at such exorbitant annual fees. Then we find out the chef didn’t wear masks making and delivering the food for all the children. There are other concerns. The owners chose to verbally attack me, the parent. Thank goodness we left. Our child is absolutely thriving in an actual, fully licensed Montessori program with 3 teachers at all times who all have benefits and sick leave and are empowered to engage the children in the most fascinating ways with music, indoor and outdoor sports, bikes, languages and live animals. And now, finally, we get to experience all of the benefits of a real Montessori education, where the child can absolutely soar.
