Comment: Mary appears caring and compassionate towards children on the spectrum. However, after my son displayed some less than desirable behaviors her instant solution was to ask me to pick him up and leave her daycare. I would expect someone with any background in childcare to offer to brainstorm alternative strategies to help my son rather than to go straight to condemning him and treating him as an other. She claims all children need the same attention, however I disagree, children on the spectrum and/or children with other disabilities sometimes need more attention and that is a reality that childcare providers need to learn to find solutions to if they’re willing to take these children into their care. My sons autism therapists were willing to do sessions at Mary’s to help my son with his behavioral problems, which she blamed on lack of limits at home which was extremely rude and unhelpful. My son has Autism and if anything I would’ve appreciated a collaborative approach from Mary in helping my son have a healthy experience in her care. If your child is extremely well behaved and always does what they’re told then this is a great place for them. Anything outside of the norm will probably be too much for her to handle and you may be asked to leave her care without a refund for time that was paid for and not worked. Best of luck to her, and I hope the experience with my son in her care helped her learn something new.
