Comment: I am a parent and I know the difference between nurturing outdoor activities and violent screaming and hitting. Your degree doesn't impress me. You didn't learn much if you believe it's ok for the adults to repeatedly yell at children without any attempt to model calm and reasonable behavior or explanations. I firmly believe children need to be outdoors and exploring their surroundings. Here's my degree: my children spent countless hours outdoors at a reputable child care facility where they learned to share, be respectful, and laugh and yell outdoors. My family went camping, hiking, and swimming all the time. They were not silenced and pushed into academics. You are not helping these children by painting me as a cranky anti child neighbor. I don't have a problem with active children. I do have a problem with allowing other children to mistreat a child with special needs, threatening to send the same screaming little girl to bed everyday because she refuses to "mind" but who is clearly struggling, allowing the children to swear at each other and me, hit each other, scream at the people in my yard, and more. It is quite telling that you say only that you looked up the rating for this business, but you do not say that you have ever been there. I suspect you've never witnessed any of this and you have either been paid to put your official stamp on this business or you are a friend of the owner. I did notice that after my review, the owner changed the name of the daycare so it's harder to find my review. I know first hand that finding child care is hard, but please don't send your children here just because it's available.

Comment: I am an early childhood education with a Masters in early childhood studies. I need to comment on a rating given by a neighbor. I know for a fact that this program is highly rated by the Sacramento County "Raising Quality Together" initiative. Last I heard, it held the highest Tier 5 designation. There are many perspectives on how best to provide quality early learning experiences to young children. Many leading advocates suggest that outdoor play is critical for whole child development. Many of these advocates also support risk, rough and tumble play, and letting the children try to problem solve social disputes on their own before intervention by an adult. I would suggest that an interested parent consider their priorities for their child. Certainly a quiet, safe, academic program will prepare a child for grade school. But a robust, lively, child-directed program will prepare a child for college and life. You may wish to contact the Sacramento County Office of Education and ask for the "RQT" Tier Rating of programs that you are considering.

Comment:

I am a neighbor of this daycare.  The children are constantly outside, screaming and crying.  They fight with one another, and the staff yells over and over but nothing ever stops.  Children and staff have been rude and disrepectful.  There does not appear to be any schedule or activities for these kids.  They claim there are no bodies of water, but I hear splashing,  If you want your children to learn, be safe, have fun, and be respectful, this is not the place.
