Comment: Not a good service at all. They should have closed down a long time ago. No video cameras to see how children are doing is a big red flag. Take your child elsewhere. Horrible experience. They use dirty rags to “clean” children’s cups. I went early and could see it with my own eyes. Stay away. I took my child to kidding around and my child is happier and healthier.

Comment: Butterfly childcare is the best hands down! Sonia does a wonderful job of keeping the children on schedules and teaching good manners. The helpers that she employs are great people who are wonderful with children. When our child first attended daycare I was skeptical for the first couple of months, but after 2 years at butterfly I would not trade it for anything. Butterfly is a great place to take your children

Comment: I recently came across this review and was appalled by the 1 star rating, it was definitely NOT my experience with Butterfly Childcare. Both of my children have been cared for in the loving home of Sonia, Butterfly Childcare. As a professional educator in early childhood myself, I know what a young child needs throughout their early stages of development. I chose Butterfly Childcare because of the passion and love I could feel that Sonia had for "her children". Children need structure and routine. She provides a well planned day that involves learning activities, play, stories, music and dance as well as meals and sleep appropriate for the child's age and development. Sonia goes above and beyond when it comes to making your child feel special and loved. Her calm nature and patience to teach the children to love their friends, share, be respectful to each other and say sorry are life skills we all need. The children she cares for do it almost effortlessly and I believe that is because they are modeling her behavior. Sonia is passionate about children and loves them each as her own, keeping them safe and happy. What more could a working parent ask for? My children are now 7 and 4 and we still have a strong relationship with Sonia. They are always asking to go for a visit, and we do. My oldest even says she wants to have a daycare like Ms. Sonia when she grows up! If you are looking for a genuine, loving, trustworthy childcare provider you will find it in Butterfly Childcare.

Comment: I personally think butterfly child care has been an excellant place for my child. The owner and her helper are extremely sweet women who I've seen nothing but love and devotion in taking care of my children in the needs to help them grow and develop. I've stopped in many times ahead of schedule and picked up my children to seeing many different parts of her great program. From morning breakfast where all the children eat together, morning play time out side so the kids can work on there motor skill. To afternoon story time and learning time. Everyday she has a planned schedule of activities, reading in English and Spanish. Mind you they are toddlers. When I mean Spanish it's colors, numbers, letters, there name. My children have gone through her program from an infant at 3 months and one of them will soon graduate and it's amazing to see my child come home and sing the nursery rhythms they have learned which incorporate English and Spanish in the same song. All the children eat at the same time and have nap time everyday together so they learn a routine which we as people all have from an early age to adulthood. The owner Sonia has a layer out schedule of food in the morning and at lunch as well as an afternoon snack that all the kids get to enjoy all of which is provided for so there's no worry of ever having to pack a lunch. Only thing you bring throughout your child's stay is formula or breast milk which ever your child prefers and diapers. Until they get of age without formula she will then give them milk and. She incorporates things to help the child develop based on there age. After all as we get older everyone learns at there own speed. If your child is behind in something she will let you know so as a parent you can spend time with you child at home to bring them up to speed weather it be reading, writing, or even talking. The house is always cleaned everyday by her helper and I've never seen a time where the kids are not happy, or playing together. My child has learned to share and make friends and respect others. Always with May I ,thank you and yes mam. Sonia is a wonderful person who loves her job. The children she cares for over the past 20years have all stayed in contact and she gets letters and cards from there families every year that she keeps on the walls or in the kitchen. Every holiday, birthday, and graduation is a party in which parents are invited to attend to share as special times with there children. I could keep going on about how great Butterfly Childcare is for your child. It's been the best thing for both of mine and if we have another I plan on having Sonia and butterfly Childcare guide my child to grow to there full potential until he/she needs to graduate to a preschool. Please please please you owe it to yourself to stop by and see butterfly Childcare and meet this wonderful person who truely does her job for the kids not for her. Thank you Sonia , We love you dearly Mike and Nattily Myers

Comment: I am amongst the many parents who believed that my child would be better provided for at a small home based child care environment, as opposed to a traditional child care center. I was wrong, and my child paid the price. Sonya sold me on the fact that Butterfly Child Care was a structured, yet warm environment, that the children would learn Spanish, and that the kids would have opportunities to play outdoors in fresh air. What I learned was that the environment is structured to a fault. Imagine a cattle drive, then imagine your child being systematically subjected to that form of "structure" 9+ hours per day. It is true that Sonya does very little in caring for the children. Her assistant monitors the children- she does not engage them, rather she goes through the motions. I was also alarmed by how much time the children spent outside in 100+ weather temperatures. There is nothing fresh or invigorating about hot air, in fact, hot weather can be dangerous for babies and young children. I also agree that Sonja is flippant and dismissive. When I brought some concerns to her attention she became indignant with me. The final straw for me was when I arrived early one day to pick up my child. As I approached the house, I could hear a baby crying. As I got closer, I realized the crying was coming from outside the home. I walked to the back of the home and listened through the fence. The baby was crying uncontrollably, and from what I could hear- the assistant was doing nothing to console the child. The crying went on for a while, longer than any loving parent would allow. I went back to the front and entered the home, I could hear the baby was still crying. As I opened the door to the patio, the assistant quickly picked up the crying baby. I asked her what was wrong, but unable to speak English, she could not communicate why they baby was crying. Once I was sure the baby wasn't hurt, I asked the assistant where Sonja was- she pointed at her head and tried to pronounce "Migraine". Sonja suffers from migraine headaches, quite a bit. I am aware that she takes medication for them- and quite frankly it's difficult to determine if the headaches or the meds are the reason for her dysphoric disposition. I later contacted Texas CPS and expressed my concerns. To my knowledge, Sonja was never questioned. What I learned from this experience is invaluable. As a working parent, I am constantly struggling with the fact that my child is in a child care environment. A child care service in a residential home was an attractive option for us because we focused on the positives. We didn't consider the potential negatives. Our child is now in a traditional child care environment- a SAFE environment- a STRUCTURED environment. Only now, the structure is ADULT focused. There are cameras, English speaking child care providers, drug testing & background checks, a secured access, emergency plans, hygiene & sanitation standards, and balanced & nutritious meals. My hope is that this review will help guide you in making a decision about child care in general, and Butterfly Child Care in particular.

Comment:

Do not bring your child to Butterfly Child Care. The supposed care taker Sonya is never home or is always in the back bedroom while her assistant who speaks no English is always left to watch the children on her own. Sonya is constantly texting parents to come get their children earlier because she has to leave for her children’s sporting events or has other misc. excuses. She frequently voices inappropriate and rude comments to the parents about their parenting skills and avoids conflict by telling you she "has to go" if you try and voice your concerns. Worst of all the kids, including tiny infants are outside on very hot days for such periods of time that the kids are always extremely flushed when they are picked up. She also advises parents as to what schedule the kids should be on so as best to fit her needs. This woman does not belong in this business.
