Comment: My child attended Apple Jack's for almost 2 years. There were many red flags and bad situations I experienced at this daycare with my child. To begin with, they "lost" many of my child's items. Toys, stuffed animals, and even clothes I never got back. I eventually stopped participating in special days (bring favorite toy, stuffed animal, movie, etc) due to the constant lost items with no explanation or follow up to even attempt to find the items. Numerous occasions I was called to come get my child due to a "fever". When arriving to pick her up within the hour required she often had no fever and no symptoms but still had to go home and was not allowed to return the next day, even fever free. All extra activities cost extra money when the expensive weekly costs should have been more than enough to cover these activities. They take every chance and opportunity to get more and more money out of the parents. The final straw requires some context. My child use to be very friendly with the other kids, wanted to give them goodbye hugs, had specific friends she'd play with, etc. Many of the other kids I would see push and hit my child with no discipline to follow. I even received reports nearly weekly that she had been biten by another child. I had hoped the behavior was being addressed but apparently not. They do not communicate at all with the parents. My child, according to them, started to act up months later. I was not informed of this behavior developing until it was apparently too difficult to handle, even then, I only had 1 phone call about it, in which no suggestions were made to help the situation. These behaviors included exactly what other kids were doing to her and not playing nicely anymore, behaviors I never witnessed at home. The teacher told me she does well when the teacher can be directly with her but acts up when she can't be. That, to me, is a huge red flag that my child was being bullied and did not want to be left alone with the other kids out of fear. Instead of addressing the bullies and having them removed from the program they said my child should be removed because she can't handle their large class size because she's an only child. I completely disagree with their reasoning and did not even attempt a resolution before dismissing my child, a dismissal in which left very little time to find other care, luckily I had already been looking for another place or I would have been screwed. I only ever had one conversation with the owner, which she was very rude and judgemental, and since I never saw the behavior at home I was doing what I could to try to stop it. I was never given any follow ups so I was lead to believe it was improving but apparently was not, but I was never told that until 1 week before her dismissal. Very poor communication overall. Once the job got too hard for them they moved on to the next kid on the waiting list. Your child is nothing but a number and a paycheck to the owner. I am happy to report that my child has not had any behavior issues at her new daycare and is making friends again. Further proving, this facility was doing something wrong and was unwilling to fix it. Would absolutely not recommend to anyone and advised all parents to trust their gut instincts.
