Comment: I had my niece at this place during the summer. My cousin and I felt blessed we found Umana FCC. My niece had a great time. She was always happy and never wanted to leave their facility. The staff is polite and nurturing. Thank you Umana FCC for the great job you do in our community.

It gives me great pleasure to write this review on behalf of Julia Umana. I have had the fortune of having Julia as my Child Care Provider for a couple of yrs. She took care of my daughter since she was 9months. Now she's 12 yrs old. During the time my daughter was under Julia's care I could see the dramatic growth and improvement my child was making. I noticed the change since day. Not only was my daughter improving academically but she was also learning values, moral, and social skills. Through out her academic yrs I have enjoyed seeing my daughter being a leader in school activities. I feel Julia Umana is a wonderful provider. Julia also offers children a healthy, educational, and enjoyable environment. During the time my daughter was under her care I vividly remembered Julia reminding the children to be safe, nice, kind, and respect each other. I'm positive that Julia Umana is a great asset to our community. She is a self-motivated, dedicated bi-lingual individual, and has the ability to diplomatically interact with adults. Julia utilizes her skills and knowledge she possessed throughout her many years of child development experience to teach and relate to children. She attends training regularly and brings us updated, great useful information. As a parent and child care analyst, I feel comfortable leaving my children with Julia while I am at work. I admire the way Julia carries herself as a professional and is highly educated. She is a holder of two bachelors and Master degree. It astonished me how she always goes out of her way to meet not only the children needs, but also the parents. She knows so much about child development and has the passion and the ability to related to the children. She is such an amazing person that I feel very comfortable to share with her my concerns regarding my child's development progress, and also about my personal life without feeling judged. When I shared with her my personal problems, I feel supported and heard. Julia is a very compassionate and patient individual. She cares so much about the well being of the children and their families. When my daughter was ill she called me periodically and asked how my daughter was doing. I'm so grateful she is my provider; her knowledge and experience working with children is so astonishing. I consider her my mentor. A GREAT MENTOR! Julia's priority is the children and all my experiences with her and her staff have been positive. I can't speak more highly about Julia. Julia's experience working with the children and her education is absolutely amazing. Julia Umana creates a happy, safe, and educational environment for both the children and the parents. In addition, Julia has two wonderful assistants and non going parent volunteers. Thank you UMANA FCC for the wonderful job you're doing helping, caring, and educating the children in our community.

My daughter went here from the age of 1 to 2 years old. Julia and the others there took good care of my daughter and she was very good about working with my difficult work schedule. No complaints from me about this daycare. I think it's better than a normal day care because of the emphasis on learning and Julia's experience as a teacher.

Comment: I'm writing this review for my son's child care provider Julia Umana. I will provide you a little background of how Julia came into our lives, and why she is so special to us. My son was born at 27 weeks gestation, weighing just 1lb 7oz. He was in the hospital for four months, with all sorts of normal micro-preemie issues and treatments. When he was discharged, we were encouraged to keep Asher out of daycare as long as possible. We were very fortunate to be able to provide all of his care for the first yr. and a half, even while both my husband and I worked full time. But the time came where we had to seek out care. I made a spreadsheet of all the daycare in my area. I called at least 20 and visited more than half of those. I saw many things that made me uncomfortable, and would not send my son to many of those facilities. When I visited UMANA FAMILY CHILD CARE, it was like an oasis in the desert. When I spoke to Julia by phone, she was informative, attentive and invited me to visit anytime. On my repeat visits and discussions, I knew that this was the perfect place to send my son. There were many reasons I selected UMANA FCC including the big backyard and age-appropriate play equipment. But the most reasons relating to Julia specifically, I will relate below. 1)JULIA'S HISTORY AS AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER: Education is very important to me and to Julia as well. With children, this is the prime time to mold them and build their minds. Julia uses her background and skill to challenge the children's thinking, providing a large variety of learning methods( visual, tactile, audio, etc.) Julia understand and values that constant, varied, and positive stimulus to her, and is not forced or rigid. She's having fun, along with the kids! 2)THERE'S NO TV WHERE THE CHILDREN ARE: I couldn't believe the number of day cares where the kids were lined up in front of the TV for many hours each day. Going along with the points made above, Julia is a very hands on provider and EDUCATOR, and doesn't rely on artificial baby sitters. 3)JULIA IS BILINGUAL: Being a native English speaker, I wanted to take advantage of the rich diversity in Southern California, and loved the benefit that Julia is bilingual. In fact, language is very important to Julia, and she teaches and converses in both Spanish and English throughout the day. She's even teaching the children Chinese numbers and some ASL. In addition to spoken language, Julia values books and reading, and encourages literacy among all the children in both the preschool and child care programs. 4)JULIA SERVES HEALTHY MEALS: Along healthy minds, healthy bodies are needed to give children a great start in life. Julia not only serves healthy meals and snacks, but also publishes a month's worth of meals and snacks for the parents to know what their children are receiving. So many of my coworkers and neighbors complain that their kids received fried and processed foods everyday. I'm able to work with confidence that my son is eating healthy. All meals are home made meals fresh and cook on daily basis. 5)THE CHILDREN ARE HAPPY IN JULIA'S CARE: One of the first things I noticed when I entered Julia's daycare was that the children were playful, laughing and having fun. Over the last year that we've been there, I know of very few incidences where the children "misbehave". Julia and her associates uses gentle discipline when needed. I feel the positive environment that Julia sets in her facility really provides the sense of security that they don't need to "misbehave". 6)JULIA HAS AN OPEN DOOR POLICY: From my first contact with Julia, she has always been warm and inviting. She has said again and again that my husband and I visit, call, text, or email anytime. On any occasion when I've visited, the children are always well cared for. I cannot recommend Julia Umana highly enough to any parent. I have asked Julia parenting questions, and she is always very patient in explaining her views or decisions. I so confident that any parent that has their kids at UMANA FCC will be very satisfy. My husband and I loved UMANA FCC. Now our child is 12yrs old and he's a very successful young man. I'm pretty sure that the head start he received at UMANA FCC helped him. I cannot appreciate enough Julia and her associates for all her help.

Comment: Within days of using this provider, I saw a VERY positive change in the temperament of my 2 year old, who attends Umana FCC every morning. He is happy to be dropped off, resists when its time to leave as he is having so much fun, and overall happier @ home because his morning was good. Umana FCC does their best to give him attention & teach him the skills he needs. The owner is kind & caring & the yard is huge perfect for kids to be kids. I'd definitely recommend this daycare to others.

Comment: I am honestly shocked that Erika Robertsons had a bad experience in this school. And I'm really sorry to here that for the mom and the provider. I have had my kids here scince 2008 and this program has helped her till this day. My 15 year old daughter came to this school. So did my 12 year old and my two little ones are currently there. The educators in this school are very attentive and the kids get a one on one expirience with the teacher. The lady who runs the school is always there and on top of each and every kids needs. I absolutely rate this school a 100 out of 5

Comment: I just received a call from the owner harassing me about this review. Not only did she demand payment for that last day, the day I spoke of previously but she refused to let me speak and then hung up on me. i have pictures of dried feces all over my child's legs and proof to anything I said in my previous review and she's lucky I haven't persued legal action. Do Not Send your child there.

Comment: I get there My daughters got snot and dirt caked all over her face and glasses. She's got poop and pee in her underwear which have obviously been there so long there's dried poop all over her thighs... the lady who runs the place isn't even there her 80 something year old mom is watching them who doesn't even speak English. I ask my daughter why she didn't poop in the potty (she's NEVER pooped in her underwear) and she says she told the lady she had to go poop... I left her with two changes of underwear and clean clothes. I go to clean her up immediately in the bathroom, there's no paper towels, there's no toilet paper... I had to take her dress off, wash it out and wipe her up with that.... UNACCEPTABLE
