Description:

My name is Nancy Nell, and I operate a state-licensed bilingual child care facility in Springfield, VA, that might have the requisite openings for your child(ren). I fully understand you're seeking in-home child care at this time; however, if that were to change, perhaps my center would prove an ideal fit for your children. For a bit of background, I've been caring for children for over 30 years now, and I am First-Aid/CPR/MAT certified. I also partner closely with Child Care Aware to ensure that the military/DoD families whose children are in my care have access to affordable childcare. I've dedicated my life to providing the children in my care with a loving environment that nurtures both their healthy physical/social/emotional development and stimulates their diverse intellectual curiosities. Because I believe flexibility is key to successful provider-parent relationships, I also adapt my hours to include overnights, after hours, and/or weekends to reflect my parents' busy schedules. Nancy's Daycare Center is an Early Learning Institution with care professionals. Quality standards extend beyond licensing requirements, good facilities, and best intentions. The child care staff with whom parents entrust their children must be professional, competent, knowledgeable, and dedicated to ensuring high-quality early childhood experiences in safe and nurturing environments. These experiences must effectively promote children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. They must also be consistent with family needs, the child's developmental level, learning interests, style of learning, and cultural background. Professionals exhibiting standards of excellence in child care and early childhood education are recognized by The NECPA Commission, Inc. through the awarding of a national credential, the Certified Child Care Professional (CCCP). The program uses a variety of developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate and effective teaching approaches that enhance each child's learning and development in the context of the program's curriculum goals for the next Virtual school year 2022-23. Please don't hesitate to reach out and either call/text me at 571.230.2835 or send me an email at nancynell.kids@gmail.com if this sounds like an environment where your little one(s) would thrive. Likewise, contact me if you're interested in setting up a tour.

Comment: In response to the owner's comment, our family provided Nancy a 2 week notice before her "Termination Notice" to us but if it makes her feel better to let people think she ended things first, that's fine. Nancy, your memory is very inaccurate. I have receipts from your daycare if you need a reminder on how our account was paid in full while our children were miserably in your care. Or you can look in a dictionary to find the definition for nonpayment because you need help with using the word correctly. You did not routinely send crafts back to our home! You sent something on 2 occasions out of ~8 months of care. One occasion was for Mother's Day. I apologized to you on 10 June 2022. But you ignored me because you were too busy telling me on a Friday afternoon that you unilaterally decided you weren't watching our kids the following week. No one mentioned apologizing to your husband or your daughter (assistant) and not sure why you're bringing them up. You and I were the only ones talking that day. I never threatened you! And I find your claims to be hurtful. I'm sorry that you didn't like it when I notified you I was contacting the State. It's sad you used me as a pawn to close daycare early. You did not hand my spouse anything during the final pickup. Looks like we both have also filed paperwork for public record. Congrats! Thank you for allowing me to set the record straight. Please take this as a public notice and a formal request. Your statement that you were threatened is completely false!!!! You are requested to stop making this false claim. In regards to your repeated statements about nonpayment. Should your tax preparer be concerned about missing payments you cannot account for? And more importantly should the IRS be concerned? If you have further questions about what the opposite of nonpayment means, we can provide you copies of cashed checks from our bank. And provide you receipts from your finance guy indicating payments were received.

Comment: I have used this provider for greater than six months. Nancy is extremely flexible and only wants the best for your child. All meals are cooked on location and a great deal of care is taken for your child. Every day after all children are picked up, Nancy cleans the entire area and toys trying to limit the spread of any germs. She is extremely conscious of any viruses being spread as her family and many others are considered high risk. I greatly appreciate the care she takes to limit the spread of any viruses. Nancy is nothing but flexible when it comes to helping care for your child. Being a single dad in the Army, she was the ONLY person that was willing to be flexible when I had a no notice change of hours. Nancy absolutely helped me in every way being a newly single dad and I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone that is looking for someone to care for their child either full time or part time.

If you have childcare needs and desire a loving, and nurturing, environment for your child Nancy @ NANCY’S DAYCARE CENTER is the provider that you want. I met Nancy when I was pregnant with my daughter. I’m a ER nurse and she was in the ER with a child from her daycare who was being treated for an asthma attack. I originally assumed the child was her own, due to her loving, caring, attentive attention to the girl. I knew that I wanted my daughter in a daycare like Nancy’s. Prior to my delivery my husband and I toured the daycare and interviewed Nancy’s. The daycare was awesome, clean, bright, cheerful and inviting. Due to demographics ( we lived in Lake Ridge, worked in DC) we initially decided to go with a nanny closer to home. The nanny was not as responsible as I wanted ( on several occasions she left my infant daughter with her teenage daughter ????). When my daughter was 8 months old, we found ourselves looking for different daycare options. We interviewed over 10 providers, none met our expectations the way Nancy had. So when my daughter was 9 months old we enrolled her at Nancy’s Daycare Center although it was demographically out of the way. This was the BEST decision we every made. My daughter immediately took to Nancy. My soul was satisfied. Nancy is a LIFE SAVER!!! At 11 months old, 2 weeks before her 1st birthday my daughter stopped breathing, went into respiratory arrest while at the daycare. Because of Nancy’s attentiveness, quick thinking, calmness and CPR training. My babygirl is alive today. The respiratory arrest lead to a stroke which has left her with mild cerebral palsy and a TBI. While in the hospital Nancy & John visited and prayed with us and our family. After and extended hospital and rehab stay my daughter returned (16 months) to Nancy’s were she continued to grow, learn and thrive until kindergarten. “But God”. If she hadn’t been in Nancy’s care on that day, our story could have been different. I would highly recommend Nancy’s Daycare!!!

Comment: Our kids went to Nancy's for 5 years. They absolutely adore Nancy and her family still - at ages 9 and 11 - they often ask to go back and visit! She taught them to read, write, and be respectful of others. Nancy was always available whenever we needed her... both my husband and I work rotating shifts in public safety, so her availability, flexibility, and professionalism is what we appreciated.

Comment: I was a new mom in April of 2020 when the country was in a full shut down due to COVID-19, and I had to return to work. It was scary leaving my first child with a stranger, but Nancy quickly eased my fears. She was great with my little one, and she was great with me! Over the last 2.5 years we've worked as a team to make sure my daughter is healthy and happy. Nancy's given me so many great pointers and helped me in so many ways. My daughter has known her ABC's since she was 18 months old. She's been potty trained since she was two and regularly surprises strangers when she speaks to them in Spanish. We didn't hesitate to send our second daughter, who is now eight months old to Mrs. Nancy too. Throughout this difficult period with COVID and so much uncertainty Nancy has offered a safe place for our children and consistency. Nancy is teaching my children to be independent and confident. To me that kind of nurturing is hard to come by. I'm so glad to have Nancy as part of my team!

Comment: I have used Nancy’s daycare from the time my older son was 3 (he’s now 8). We are a military family and when I moved here from GA, I was a single mom with a complicated army physician schedule. Nancy’s family has been a God send. John (Nancy’s husband) worked with me to allow me to use the Child Care Aware program. Nancy was so flexible and accommodating to my complicated schedule, all hours of the day and week. My son became part of their family and they became part of ours! When I had my younger son, who currently attends the daycare, I knew there was absolutely nowhere else I wanted him to be. Having the peace of mind to know that he’s not only safe, but extremely well cared for and loved, is priceless. The kids eat home cooked meals and have an amazing, safe and clean play area. My older son was so prepared for kindergarten after attending daycare here—learning phonics, letters, writing, etc. They’ve done a great job continuing to provide safe care throughout the COVID pandemic. I have nothing but good things to say about this daycare, the family who owns it, and their employees.

Comment: Mrs. Nancy is the best. My son was in her care from 6 months to 4 years and as a first time mom, I found Nancy to be helpful, reassuring, and absolutely amazing at what she does. My son was pointing out letters way before we even thought it was time to teach them… because Mrs. Nancy was teaching him. He was fully potty trained by 2.5, because of her. He ran in so excited every morning and as he got older didn’t want to leave because he loved it there so much. He knows Spanish because of her. He has a summer birthday but I know he’s fully ready for Kindergarten this fall because of her and his time in her care. We only left because my career moved us out of the area but we have nothing but good things to say about our time with Nancy. She loved our son like her own and isn’t that what you want when you’re leaving your child with someone all day? She is so dedicated to those kids and their success and happiness.

Comment: In regards to COVID-19 if I'm not mistake its been the kids exposing the staff and not the staff exposing the kids. But also hello if you keep going out during COVID-19 you run the risk of eventually getting it. I rather her to close than expose my child to COVID-19 or better yet as a parent get test if you have travel out. Nancy and her staff have been so wonderful. I've worked with Mrs. Nancy in the past and when it was time to look for a home daycare, I couldn't think of anyone else I would trust my child with. Mrs. Nancy's home daycare is not like your normal home care. Mrs. Nancy and her staff take the time to educate my daughter in different subjects. From learning Spanish to learning how to write her name. My daughter has blossom into a chatty Cathy lol which is prefect because she was a little shy when it came to meet new little friends. To kind of answer the previous post from Mrs. Warning T which I fund to be incorrect. I understand that everyone has their own experience in their own situation but to say Mrs. Nancy is untruthful is a false narrative. During my time as an employee at Mrs. Nancy’s daycare we had a teacher come in the afternoons to teach the children how to write, color in the lines, ABCs, how to properly use kids scissors, and we also did a lot of art work with the kids. Each child had their own bookbag with worksheets and a book to read. Now as a parent, Mrs. Nancy gives a verbal report on what my child is learning and in how I can help her learn better. She has provided me with homework that my daughter hadn't finish for day so we can work on it together at home. I have gotten all the projects she was worked on like a Mother’s Day project and paintings they have done in the daycare. But as a parent it’s our responsible to ask how our child is doing. It's not just a one-way street. To completely provide a well-rounded education to a child it's a give and take from teacher (childcare provided) and parents. I appreciate Mrs. Nancy calling the cops because now-a-days you don't know what a person means when they threaten you. She was looking out for the safety of kids. In regards to our supplies it’s your responsible to ask for them back. Mrs. Nancy's daycare is not a pre-k school, yet she teaches our child like they were in a pre-school sitting. Mrs. Nancy is the best.

Comment: I am sorry regarding the circumstances under which we had to terminate your childcare contract due to nonpayment. To clarify a couple of inaccurate claims made in the above post: Crafts and projects are frequently sent home with children, and they are consistently taught, read to, and encouraged to engage in various other educational activities. Regarding your specific encounter with my daycare center, you never apologized to me, my assistant, my husband who is recovering from surgery, or the families who had to come pick their children up early because of threats you made against my center, which are documented in the incident report filed for public record. As for your children’s supplies that you claim were not returned, there was a bag of clothes and some Father’s Day crafts that your children left at the center that I handed to your husband upon final pickup. Unfortunately, he did in fact leave them behind, but they are waiting for your husband to retrieve at his convenience. As for why services and community resources were contacted, my VDSS supervisor explicitly directed me to contact and alert the authorities as to the threats you made in order to ensure the safety of the children in my care. Thank you for this opportunity to correct the record. Nancy Nell Daycare Owner

Comment: This daycare facility has closed numerous times due to covid exposures. Days/weeks of childcare have been lost and no compensation/consideration has been offered to parents.

Comment: Kids spend all day at this facility and very little information is sent back home regarding their time spent there. Drawings/crafts or anything tangible is not sent home to track your kid's progress. This facility requires a 6 week notice that you wish to stop service. Our family gave a two week notice and was told our one week deposit is now forfeited. Even after an apology regarding the notification period, our deposit was still forfeited. We were notified on a Friday that we would not have an additional week of childcare the following Monday. Upon notification (to this daycare) that the State would be contacted, the facility demanded that the kids be picked up early (before noon) and called the cops even though a full day's childcare had already been paid for. The owner is not trustworthy and we do not recommend this facility. This daycare facility tied up community resources for something that was easily resolveable. Upon final pickup of kids, none of our supplies (i.e. spare change of clothes, wipes, diapers, Pullups) were sent back.
